Thrivability Solutions
Thrivability Solutions explores how people and the systems around them can develop in ways that expand human capability, strengthen resilience, and preserve possibilities for future generations.
Its work includes The Field Guide to Developmental Civilization, the VIPSEAD human-development framework, and BLiSS research into resilient foundational systems.

The Field Guide to Developmental Civilization
The Field Guide to Developmental Civilization is a practical framework for examining a simple but far-reaching question:
How can we help people thrive today while strengthening the possibilities available to future generations?
The Guide explores recurring developmental patterns across individuals, families, organizations, communities, technologies, infrastructure, and civilization itself.
Rather than proposing a finished blueprint for society, it offers ways of seeing, questions worth asking, and practical instruments for evaluating choices, learning from consequences, and improving what comes next.
Its North Star is:
A healthy civilization continually expands people’s freedom to live meaningful lives while preserving and strengthening their ability to do so for future generations.
Development is not the goal. Human flourishing is.
About the Author
Warren Graham
Warren Graham is the founder of Thrivability Solutions Inc. and author of The Field Guide to Developmental Civilization.
His independent work explores a question that began as a thought experiment: What might a civilization look like if it were deliberately designed to help people thrive?
That question led to research and writing across human development, resilient infrastructure, technology, systems thinking, stewardship, and long-term capability.
Rather than attempting to predict a particular future, his work asks what people and communities can begin developing now that may expand their ability to adapt, solve problems, and shape their own futures.
His related projects include VIPSEAD, a framework for lifelong human capability development, and BLiSS — Bioregenerative Life Support Systems — an exploration of more resilient and integrated foundational systems.
Areas of Work
Developmental Civilization
How can we evaluate progress not only by what it accomplishes today, but by the capabilities and possibilities it leaves behind?
The Field Guide to Developmental Civilization explores practical ways of examining that question.
Human Capability
VIPSEAD explores how Values, Interests, Personality traits, and Skills can develop through continuing cycles of Exploration, Application, and Development.
The work includes questions surrounding education, lifelong learning, meaningful contribution, and the relationship between human capability and artificial intelligence.
Foundational Systems
BLiSS research explores more resilient approaches to food, water, energy, shelter, sanitation, materials, and other essential systems.
The research examines how capabilities might be distributed appropriately across households, communities, and larger regional networks rather than relying exclusively on either centralized systems or complete self-sufficiency.
Potential Interview and Discussion Topics
Warren is available for conversations exploring topics such as:
- What is Developmental Civilization?
- What should progress preserve for future generations?
- Human flourishing as a North Star for development
- How technology can strengthen rather than replace human capability
- AI as coach versus AI as crutch
- Preparing people to repair, adapt, and improve the systems they inherit
- Lifelong human development through VIPSEAD
- Resilient foundational systems and BLiSS
- Household, community, and regional resilience
- Living Infrastructure and Lifecycle Stewardship
- Learning from consequences rather than merely avoiding failure
- Why future generations need capability, not just inheritance
